We are delighted to report here, news of our successful year at Chilford Hall.
The vineyard
We were understandably proud that the vineyard achieved outstanding success at the East Anglian Wine Growers Association Wine of the Year Awards in July 2007.
The Chilford Sparkling Rosé 2002 was the outstanding success of the event securing the Gold Medal and the Spear Trophy before being declared winner of the prestigious Wine of the Year Trophy.
The popular Schönburger 2006 also claimed a Gold Medal and the Berwich Trophy while the Chilford Dry 2006 won a Silver Medal. Bronze Medals were awarded for the Chilford Medium Dry 2006 and the Chilford Medium 2006 wines.
Refurbishment Programme
Clients, old and new will reap the benefits of our 2007 refurbishment programme for conference and banqueting functions. We have achieved significant restoration of our period halls, improvement to barn facilities, all cloakroom areas and the painstaking sanding and varnishing of the feature wooden floors.
Our estate grounds are also undergoing transformation. Investment in additional landscaping will introduce three major water features to the gardens. The three tiered waterfall and two ornate stone sculpted water fountains one of which is our trade mark lion head will enhance the areas used by guests.
The herbaceous perennial gardens commonly used by our wedding parties for their commemorative photographs will be further developed by new architectural pieces framed by sensitive planting. These pieces include two stunning marble temples, attractive pagodas, the celebrated Four Seasons marble statuettes and additional marble, plinth mounted lion heads.
