Vineyard and Winery
Chilford Hall Vineyard is situated just 8 miles from Cambridge amidst tranquil, rolling countryside rich in flora and fauna. It is one of England’s oldest established vineyards and one of the largest in East Anglia with 17000 vines and 9 different varieties. The vineyard comprises 18 acres of free draining “flinty” soil overlaying chalk, soil conditions that are similar to those found in the Champagne region of France. It occupies a south west facing slope to maximise the sunshine available during the summer months. The vinification process, i.e the pressing, fermentation, blending and bottling takes place on the estate under the expert management of our wine maker Mark Barnes, this ensures strict quality control during each phase. The result of this effort has seen Chilford Hall proudly receive many awards and accolades over the years from the United Kingdom Vineyards Association for the quality of its wine.
Chilford Hall wine is characterised by clean flavour, a fragrant nose, fruit body and good acidity. A single estate range of award-winning wines of the finest quality.
