Award-winning wines
Initially planted in 1972, the vineyard is set out over 20 acres of free draining "flinty" soil which overlays chalk. These soil conditions are similar to those found in the Champagne region of France which makes it ideal for the production of sparkling wines. The vines occupy a south-west facing slope to maximise the sunshine available throughout summer months.
Since 2006 the vines have been managed by Wine maker and Vineyard Manager Mark Barnes whose dedication to the meticulous upkeep of the vineyard has resulted in the production of our high-quality grapes which are used to produce award winning wines.
Beautiful Cambridge countryside
The vineyard is situated just 8 miles from the historic city of Cambridge amidst tranquil, rolling countryside which is rich in flora and fauna. It is one of England's oldest established vineyards, with over 17,000 vines of 9 different varieties including: Müller-Thurgau , Schönburger, Ortega, Reichensteiner, Pinot Noir, Rondo, Regent, Dornfelder, Siegerrebe.
Those vineyards that have been established more recently, tend to veer towards sparkling grape varieties; English sparkling wine is comparable with some of the best French champagnes, and it’s a really thriving area of winemaking
